Nate Brown began the meeting at 4:15 PM
Motion to approve passes.
-Dean Feldblum requested that the school fund the entire project. The school has not yet responded officially.
-The Senate discussed the budget that it wants to allocate for the project in the event that the school provides little to no financial assistance.
-Motion to fund the Coop expansion project up to $60,000 after the use of the money that the college provides for the project. The motion passes. Ari and Hsuanwei voted no and Will Gamber abstained.
Rishi expressed discomfort about the idea of the college selling cigarettes to students with the knowledge that these products are bad for the general health of the student body.
Theory brought up the idea that there could be contention over the coop selling other products that are bad for people’s health.
Rishi is going to look into the data on cigarette sales at the coop store.
Requests that our student body sign onto a resolution passed by its student government
-Motion to sign the letter from Northwestern University encouraging college administrations not to use violence against peaceful student protests. Motion passes with one abstention.
The Alumni Board is holding a lunch with ASPC senators on February 11. Leslie, Will G. Nick Lawson, Anna, Frances, and Ari are all interested in attending.
The Board would like to have topics to discuss. ASPC ideas:
-Making students feel more comfortable contacting alumni.
-Helping with the transition out of Pomona into the “real world”
-Evaluations of post-Pomona experiences (especially graduate schools)
